Hugs Inc
Loving Hugs, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization based in Littleton, Colorado, and was founded in 2007 by Wendy L.Clark.
How We
Got Started
Inspired by a letter shared with her from a U.S. soldier serving in Iraq, Wendy learned of the tragic consequences for local children because of insurgent attacks; many of the injured victims are innocent children. Some learn that they no longer have their families and are alone in the hospitals; many will ultimately be placed in orphanages.
Immediately Wendy was inspired to do something to help these children. Not just for children in Iraq, but wherever similar needs for children who could use a 'loving hug' present themselves around the world.

Major Karsteter's Letter that inspired Wendy to start Loving Hugs, Inc. The inspiration came to her when she read about the little boy who was brought into the hospital alone after the insurgent bombing in Tal
Afar, Iraq; this little boy was without parents, family members, friends, or
neighbors. She wished that if he could just have a cuddly stuffed animal to hug
close
and hold onto, it might help a great deal to comfort him and ease his fears. The
inspiration for Loving Hugs, Inc. was born!
Frightened, hurt, or anxious children need comforting, and can derive a lot of comfort by having a cuddly stuffed animal that they can love, hug, and hold onto. A loved cuddly stuffed animal can make a big difference to a hurting, frightened, or anxious child!
Loving Hugs, Inc. works with our U.S. military contacts in Iraq, Afghanistan,
South America and in other areas around the world.
 Hugs in Action!

Cuddly "loving hugs" have been received by children in Benin, Africa; Peru, Chile, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

A Brownie Troop made and donated 30 "loving hugs".

Various church groups, schools, Mother's groups, private companies, service clubs, and individuals are doing "Hug Drives" for our cause.

Volunteers have taken our "hugs" to children in Benin, Uganda and Peru.
Our Board of Directors
Wendy L. Clark, Executive Director, founded Loving Hugs, Inc. in
2007 and brings experience from having been a “loaned executive” for
United Way of Orange County, California for their 1981 fund raising campaign.
She raised $360,000.00 through her accounts for that campaign, for an
overall increase of 25% in donations from those accounts over the prior year. She
also brings strong organizational and business skills from having started, and run
her own successful construction business for over 14 years.
Rick Clark, Director, Treasurer, and Secretary, brings a wealth
of invaluable nonprofit organization experience from being a former Director of
Inter-Faith Community Services, Denver, Colorado; past president of the
Rotary Club of Littleton, Colorado; past Treasurer and current Secretary of the
Rotary Club of Littleton, Colorado, and has been actively involved in many of
their community projects, and one of their international projects in Guatemala.
Karen Loucks Rinedollar, Director of Loving Hugs, Inc. founded
the non-profit organization Project Linus in 1996. She brings more than a
wealth of invaluable experience and direction to Loving Hugs, Inc. from her
experience in founding, building, and running her own highly successful non-profit
organization, which continues to benefit children in the United States and other
parts of the world.
